Amongst others, the British Dietetic Association recognises that vegan diets are suitable for all ages. The Vegan Society has more information on this matter.

In all honesty, everyone should educate themselves on nutrition. There is so much bad information out there, and many people pass on the same old debunked information – i.e. “There’s no protein in plants”,  “Only milk has calcium”, “Only meat has iron”

Please refer to the Nutrition Facts website, and also The Vegan Society has studies available to download in PDF form.

If this is your first time going vegan, it’s well worth getting support. Challenge22 has qualified nutritionists available as part of the vegan support program (it’s free to join up) who can help you in making adjustments for certain dietary needs, and answering any questions you might have about the vegan diet.

If you’re interested in the science, and the studies behind why a plant-based diet is beneficial, we recommend the books Dr. Gregor’s How Not to Die and T Colin. Campbell’s The China Study.
